Spooky stories with hand puppets
On Halloween, children dress up and go knocking on doors. If you would rather stay in, a monster, an owl or a witch on a child’s hand turns the living room into a little haunted stage, and the child decides how creepy the story is allowed to get.
Monsters and villains
A brightly coloured monster sparks curiosity rather than fear, which is why even playgroup and kindergarten children are keen to join in when a monster from Living Puppets or The Puppet Company turns up in a Halloween tale. The fun really starts when the roles are reversed: the monster lies awake because it is sure there is a child hiding under its bed. For a more traditional cast, bring in the villains from a classic puppet show. Among munabo’s Punch and Judy puppets there are characters who may win for once on Halloween – at least until Kasper, the hero of German-speaking puppet theatre, comes back.
Night creatures for hands and fingers
Owls, bats and spiders come out after dark, and in folklore, ravens are often seen as birds of ill omen, so they all belong at Halloween. Folkmanis makes animals like these as true-to-life hand puppets. As finger puppets from Folkmanis and The Puppet Company, they also fit small children’s fingers.
