Pointer Soft Toy - Anima Sitting Dog Plush

The English Pointer belongs to the pointing dog group and has been bred in England since the 17th century. It owes its name to the characteristic "point": when it scents game, it freezes in a pointing stance with one front paw raised and body extended, showing the hunter the direction of the quarry. Pointers stand 61 to 69 centimetres tall and weigh 20 to 30 kilogrammes. Their short coat commonly comes in white with brown, black or orange patches. In the field they are considered exceptionally fast and tireless; at home they are calm and gentle.

Did you know that the Pointer is regarded as one of the fastest hunting dogs of all? Over longer distances in the field it can reach speeds of up to 60 kilometres per hour. It quarters the ground in wide, elegant sweeps — quite unlike scent hounds that work with their nose to the ground. The Pointer hunts with its head held high, using the wind to pick up scents from a considerable distance.
