Folkmanis Frog Life Cycle Hand Puppet

Teaching children about science is fun and engaging with the Folkmanis frog life cycle puppet. In the first stage, the lenticular printed egg comes alive with motion. The zippers then turn the puppet into the tadpole stage and finally into the frog. At the frog stage the mouth animates, so the story of metamorphosis can be told aloud. (transforms from egg, to tadpole, to frog).

Frogs (Anura) live wherever fresh water stands, from pond margins and marshes to the crowns of tropical trees. Long hind legs make them specialists in jumping, and many species carry webbing between the toes. Hunting is done from a sitting position: once an insect comes within range, the sticky tongue shoots forward. While swallowing, a frog presses its eyes down into the mouth cavity to push the prey along. On warm evenings the males call through their vocal sacs and can be heard far across the water.

Did you know that frogs never drink, but take up water through the skin? A particularly permeable patch sits on the belly, which specialists call the drinking patch. A frog that settles into a puddle covers its whole water requirement that way.
